As i am so missing going to afternoon teas decided to make my own scones today. They are so easy to make and tasted delicious especially with jam and clotted cream.
Below is the recipe so you can make them yourself at home
450 g self raising flour
2 teaspoons caster sugar
pinch of salt
60g chilled butter chopped
12 fluid ounces milk
150 g chopped strawberries
extra milk for brushing
Strawberry jam and clotted cream to serve with
Preheat oven to 220C/200C fan oven. Lightly grease and sprinkle baking tray with flour
Put flour in large bowl add the salt and sugar and chopped butter. Mix with fingertips till resembles fine breadcrumbs
Add the milk and strawberries and mix to form dough. If sticking to hands add bit more flour .
Sprinkle the surface with flour and kneed dough to form smooth ball
Roll out to 2.5 cm thick and cut into 5cm diameter rounds with cutter , place on prepared baking trays
Bake for approx 15 mins till golden on top
